Heavy Metal

Heavymetal

I think it's safe to say that if you are moving 3 1/2 tons of metal through a window, you are a totally committed printer.

My friend, Richard, is just that. He taught me how to print and he has just purchased the Rolls-Royce of letterpress printing machines—The Cylinder Press! I am so so happy and excited for him. Oh the things he can print on this press… the printing, the scoring, the large-sizes… I am really so excited to see what he creates with this beautiful piece of equipment. Yay, Richard!

Going To Hollywood

BeverlyHillsHotel

About a month ago I was contacted by the Wedding Salon, in New York. They are hosting a big, fancy bridal event in Los Angeles next month (the 22nd) and I have decided to participate. I've never done anything like this, but it promises to be a completely lavish event at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

If you are in the Los Angeles area, please stop by between 4 and 9 pm and say "hello"!

The First Rule of Blogging

Yes, the obvious first rule of creating a blog is to please please keep up with it. I know this but alas, here I am. I came out of the gate with this, posting, posting posting and then what happened? I just finished up a few really amazing projects. And I guess I'm regrouping.

Self-Explanatory

TableNumber

Okay, I'm not really that superstitious of a person, but I'm also a fan of covering all of my bases.
Above is a table number from a set that I printed this week for the sweetest bride-to-be.
I think the wood will add a really nice, organic texture to the deep red roses and dahlias that she'll be using for her table settings.

Happy 8-8-8!

Calling Cards

Chris just sent me an article that says,  "Calling Cards are the new Business Cards".
I told you so!

Cotton Paper

program

This is a close up of color-one of a large program which I'm printing right now.
I get a lot of requests for enviromentally-friendly papers and my cotton/rag paper is perfect.
Not only is it tree-free and lasts for Centuries, but it prints beautifully

Still a work-in-progress and I'll show the final piece when I'm done!

Sunday Check-In

Photobucket
It's Sunday morning and Astrid (my daughter) is taking a nap while Chris (my husband) is at his music lesson. We've had a busy week with Grandma and our niece in town, and I'm keeping up with so many projects at the press. I have a lot of big and exciting changes up ahead and more on that later, as things start to unfold. I think it's been a really great Summer and I'm grateful for the time I get with A. and the ability to run my business.
I guess I have the Sunday-morning reflecting going on and I will typically make a big fat list for myself for things to do in the upcoming week.
I was making my Monday-list, and found this fun (distracting!) website which make my list of things-to-do (from the fun—printing(!) to the boring/necessary: reconcile checking account) tomorrow look really pretty.
